I just started a site - http://www.scoutermom.com
I am a den leader in our pack, an assistant scoutmaster in our troop, and the advisor for our crew. A scouting triple play! Anyway, I'm posting stuff I've already done the research for on my blog. Maybe it will save somebody else some time. Love your site! Thanks.

[...] This was rather surprising to me. If you anxiously read the BSA Annual Report each year like I do, you already know that there are almost twice as many Cub Scouts as Boy Scouts. I guess I failed to notice there are more Boy Scout adult leaders than Cub Scout adult leaders, but this gap is still surprising. I think this probably reflects that more of the blogs on HalfEagle are focused on Boy Scouts than Cub Scouts, and this is probably because of my bias as a Scoutmaster toward reading those blogs. I’ll try to add some more quality Cub Scouting and Venturing blogs. If you know of one, recommend it in the comments here. [...]

I think this might be of interest to your (our) blogging community. I am trying to do two things--1) reach out beyond our immediate area and use this as tool to encourage folks to look at a small rustic BSA camp; and 2) pave a way for other camps to get online and show their stuff.

Thanks,
Todd

Thanks for accepting me on your site.
I know a lot of people who read my stuff aren't from the UK, so I try to remember this and not use too many abbreviations or properly explain myself if I'm talking about something that is UK specific.

Thanks again.

Hello Nick!

I checked the visitor stats for HalfEagle and 93% of it's visitors are from the U.S. Almost 5% come from the UK.

I already include international Scouting photos in the photo feed precisely because I think it's inspiring and helpful to see what Scouts do all over the world. Pictures can speak to us regardless of language.

Because the terminology of Scouting in the UK is a bit different than the terminology of Scouting in the US, I think it might be a tad confusing for readers. However, I think that it's a worthwhile enterprise. :)

I'm going to add your blog and see how it goes!

Cheers,
Gregg

Hi Gregg,

just wondered if you would consider a 'foreign' blog from the UK?

Thanks

Hello Shawn! Thanks for pointing out your blog. I read back quite a ways and I like what you're writing about -- the perspective of a unit commissioner is a good one to have. I hope HalfEagle's readers enjoy your writing, too. :)

This particular post of yours stood out to me for a couple reasons. First, it reminded me that our blog posts live on well past our anger or frustration of the moment. Second, it gave me a good word for the effect reading Scouting blogs has on me: rejuvenating.

Thank you. :)

P.S. I know what you mean about being a younger Scouter -- I'm a mere 28 years old.

I have a site, don't know if it's what you are looking for, but I am a younger scouter with a lot of future history. Take a look, thanks
